Finish: Silver-plated, burnished. Bell interior, valve caps, ferrules, finger buttons, water key, and engraving is gold-plated and burnished.

Engraving: Elaborate and intricate design, including geometric designs, flowers, leaves, and a cross within a sixteen-pointed star. Engraving also includes “MADE BY / C. G. CONN / ELKHART, IND” within a circular band, and “Pat. Jan. 22nd 1878 (in cursive)” near front of bell rim.

Designed to play in C, B-flat, and A with appropriate shanks and adjustments. The short shank currently in the horn is marked B-flat. To put it in C, remove ladder slide. To put it in A, it needs a longer lead pipe shank that is not with the instrument.
Tunes using first, second, and third slides.
“Bumps” compensate for adjustments in tuning.
