Notes:
Ernst Albert Couturier was an American virtuoso cornet player during the late 1800s. Couturier desired to improve the cornet of his time. He worked with other instrument manufacturers, including Frank Holton & Co. during 1907-1913. Couturier started his own company in 1916 to pursue his continuous conical bore patent. (See this page for an example of Couturier’s Holton cornet.)
Includes a B-flat to A “quick change” rotary valve selector on the body of the horn. Marked “301” (slightly illegible) on bottom of selector.
Second valve case stamped with “PAT. SEPT. 23, 13 / OTHER PATS. PENDING / JUL. 23. 18.” and “M”, indicating Medium Bore.
